We appreciate you taking time to learn more about how our district spends money. We believe it is vitally important that our citizens and taxpayers have a clear understanding of how we utilize the resources we have received.
When you look at the data, you may notice that Beaverton’s expenditures for Teaching & Learning are 2.1% higher than the statewide average. You will also see that our expenditures for Central Administration are 2.2% lower than the statewide average. We continue to focus our resources on direct classroom instruction in order to achieve our District Goal to increase academic achievement districtwide with a special emphasis on literacy and mathematics gains for each student.
In fiscal year 2005-06, Beaverton School District served 36,640 students in 49 schools. Our student population continues to grow, both in numbers and in diversity. Over 83 languages and dialects are spoken in our schools, including Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Russian and Somali.
