Beaverton Education Foundation Awards Grants To Fund 26 Classroom ProjectsThe Beaverton Education Foundation, a public non-profit organization that raises monies for public schools in Beaverton, has awarded its 2010 BEF Classroom Innovation Grants – funding special projects submitted under a competitive grant process by staff in the Beaverton School District. These awards total more than $24,240.00 targeted to encourage innovative and creative teaching techniques in Beaverton schools. Twenty-six classroom projects received funding in schools throughout the district. Please visit www.beavertonEDfoundation.org for a list and summary of the 2010 BEF Classroom Innovation Grants awarded (also attached The 2010 BEF Classroom Innovation Grants were made possible with generous donations from the community. Included in this award cycle was a grant funded through the Mike Osborne Memorial Fund, supporting literacy programs, and three grants funded through the Dave Gettling Technology Fund, providing funding for competitive technology-based educational grants. Funding for twelve science project grants was provided through the Building STEAM 4 All Program promoting activities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, with generous support from Spirit Mountain Community Fund, and Genentech. In addition to BEF Classroom Innovation Grants for classroom projects, the Beaverton Education Foundation awards funds to schools through the BEF Kids Count Grant Program and Middle School Extended Awards for after-school and summer programs. With the guidance of a volunteer Board of Directors, the Foundation supports strong public schools in our community by developing and maintaining strategic partnerships funding programs that inspire and increase student achievement.
