District Announces Budget Adjustments

Dear Beaverton Community:

Last night, I presented the 2008-09 budget reduction recommendations to the School Board. These reductions meet the Governor's mandated 1.2% General Fund Budget reduction totaling nearly $4.3 million for our District. Please click here for a list of the reductions.

I want to again thank the 21 member finance team for their work over the past few weeks, including leaders from Beaverton Education Association, Oregon School Employees Association and the Association of Beaverton School Administrators. This is difficult work, and the team's spirit of collaboration is greatly appreciated. We will continue to keep you informed about our budget situation, especially as we begin our budget process in January.

These suggestions will be very helpful to the Budget Committee. In addition, we will update you as the Oregon Legislature begins to build the 2009-2011 budget.

Finally, I am encouraging all of us to conserve our resources whether it be budgets, electricity, supplies or equipment. Every little bit will add up to substantial savings in the long run.
