District Awarded Energy Conservation Grants

The District has been awarded three energy conservation lighting replacement grants by the Oregon Department of Energy. The grants are part of the US Department of Energy's American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) and total more than $400,000. We will be putting local contractors to work replacing lighting fixtures in gyms at 5 high schools, 7 middle schools, as well as replacing lighting fixtures at the Transportation facilities on Allen Street and 5th Street North and South. We estimate that these projects will save the District and our community nearly 700,000 kWh per year and $70,000. That's enough electricity to power 57 homes every year!!

The work for these projects needs to be completed before June 15, so keep an eye out for improvements at your school!
