Health Careers Celebrates 40 Years

Health Careers, Beaverton School District’s oldest option program will celebrate its 40th anniversary on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Souther Auditorium at Providence St. Vincent Hospital. The focus of the of the evening will be to celebrate the successful partnerships between Beaverton School District and Providence Health Systems.

Health Careers, a partial-day program for 11th and 12th grade students from all BSD comprehensive high schools, provides a foundation for future health care professionals and prepares students for future careers in the health care industry. Students receive carefully chosen clinical experiences in hospitals, medical facilities and private practices. Students have the opportunity to obtain college credit, earn their Red Cross first-aid and CPR certifications, and still have the advantage of participating in the academic and extracurricular life of their home high school.Students sign up for the Health Careers program as part of the regular high school forecasting/enrollment process.
