Michael Allen Harrison To Perform At Beaverton High Oct 20

Concert Pianist, Producer, Composer and Arranger, Michael Allen Harrison, will be performing at the Beaverton High School Choir Concert on Tuesday, October 20th at 7:30 p.m.

This wonderful musician founded The Snowman Foundation in 1999 to support and promote music education among young people. Beaverton High now has a new grand piano thanks to Mr. Harrison and his foundation. Many schools in the Metro area have benefited from grants awarded by The Snowman Foundation.

Beaverton High Choir Director, Bruce Brownell, says that the choir students at BHS are very grateful to Mr. Harrison and his foundation for the 6'4" Boston Grand Piano by Steinway. "They show great respect for that instrument. We are also grateful that Michael is willing to come play at our concert to help us raise money for our operating costs," Brownell said.

Beaverton High had five students selected to All-Northwest Choir last year, and the choir fund paid their way to participate in Spokane, Washington. This year, the fund will be used to pay choir festival fees, travel costs, All-State Choir fees, and purchase music for the singers.

The vocal swing and jazz group, The Westside Singers, will also be performing at this fundraising concert.

Beaverton High Choirs performed last year at Grace Lutheran Cathedral in San Francisco, and were invited to perform for the second time this year at Carnegie Hall. One B.H.S. senior, Cara Gabrielson, has twice won the State Solo Contest for sopranos, and was selected to sing with the Oregon Symphony last May. Gabrielson will be a featured soloist in the concert Tuesday.

There is no admission charge to attend the concert. A free-will donation will be gladly accepted.
