Three Schools In Beaverton School District Have Each Won A Light Retrofit

Barnes Elementary, McKay Elementary, and Cedar Park Middle School in the Beaverton School District have each won a $3,000 light retrofit funded by PGE and the Energy Trust of Oregon. 41 of the District's 51 schools took the Energy Pledge (pledge below) as part of PGE's Save More, Matter More Campaign.

We pledge to increase our energy conservation efforts by:

  1. Turning out the lights when we leave a room for 5 minutes or more.
  2. Shutting down computers at the end of the day.
  3. Increasing awareness and visibility of energy conservation efforts.

PGE's second annual Save More, Matter More campaign (in conjunction with their Spot the Sticker campaign) is designed to help organizations raise awareness about energy conservation issues.

The District's Energy and Resource Conservation Department strives to conserve resources wisely through management of utilities, providing environmental outreach and education, and supporting individual school efforts. We believe our actions will reduce District costs, lower the District's environmental footprint and ultimately reserve more resources for education.
