2006 Bond Construction Projects

Highlighted below are major construction projects funded by a $195 million dollar Capital Construction Bond Measure approved by voters in November 2006. CURRENT PROJECTS

Land Acquisition

The District is conducting a land search to purchase a site for a new comprehensive high school facility.

COMPLETED PROJECTS
Arts and Communication Magnet Academy (ACMA)
Construction on the new Performing Arts Building began in March 2009 and completed in March 2010. This 20,900 SF facilitywas built adjacent to the existing school, provides a 400 seat auditorium as well as storage, production, and display spaces. This new facility provides students with a greatly enhanced learning and performing venue.


Merle Davies
A unique project in the 2006 Bond, this improvement work renovated our Beaverton HS annex facility which has been unoccupied since the end of the 2003 school year. Construction began in May 2009 and was ready for use in September 2010. Improvements include renovating 14 classrooms, remodeling kitchen/cafeteria, and a high tech multipurpose space. Enhanced seismic, roof repair, asbestos abatement, HVAC upgrade and exterior window repair are also included.


Transportation and Support Center (TSC)
Construction began to expand our existing facility in April 2009 and completed in March 2010. This important ancillary project will provide the District with expanded shops and maintenance facilities to service our expanded bus fleet. Parking for 180 buses and additional warehouse space is alsoprovided.


Hiteon Elementary School
Construction completed on this 8 classroom addition project in July 2009. Improvements made complement the new addition wing and an expanded kitchen and cafeteria. The expanded school accommodates 750 students.


Kinnaman Elementary School
Construction completed in September 2009. This new capacity addition project added 12 classrooms in a new wing, expanded the kitchen and cafeteria, and improved parking. The expanded school will accommodate 750 students.


Springville K-8
Construction completed on this new "ground-up" K-8 school in September 2009. This new school, with 29 classrooms, kitchen/cafeteria, SPED facilities, gym & multipurpose rooms, will accommodate 720 students. This school was designed to accommodate a future classroom expansion in another bond.


Bonny Slope Elementary

Construction completed on this new “ground up” school in September 2008. This new school includes 25 classrooms, kitchen/cafeteria, SPED facilities, gym & multipurpose rooms and will accommodate 600 students.


McKinleyElementary

Construction completed on this 8 classroom addition project in July 2009. Improvements made complement the new addition wing and an expanded kitchen and cafeteria. The expanded school accommodates 750 students.


Sunset High School

Added a new 14 classroom wing, additional upgraded science classrooms, expanded parking and make numerous improvements to existing school fire sprinkler, fire alarm, domestic water piping and boiler replacements.


Health and Science School (at Capital Center)

Completed major alterations to the District’s new Capital Center campus by adding grades 6-12.




Educational & Physical Facility Improvement Projects (Group 1)

  • Completed improvements at 9 schools over the Summer of 2008. BHS saw expanded girls and boys “Team Rooms”, domestic water piping replacement, window replacement, HVAC enhancements, stage upgrades and a variety of finish improvements. Other schools saw roofing replacements, domestic water piping replacements, kitchen remodels, upgraded stage rigging and boiler replacements.

Educational & Physical Facility Improvement Projects (Group 2)

  • Improvements at 20 District schools were completed to repair/replace roofs, provide seismic upgrades, replace domestic piping systems, add emergency generators, replace boilers and upgrade finishes. This work improved functionality, energy efficiency, and physical integrity of the buildings. Completed over the Summer of 2009.

Educational & Physical Facility Improvement Projects (Group 3)

  • Improvements at 14 District Elementary, Middle and High schoolswere completed to repair/replace roofs, provide seismic upgrades, replace domestic piping systems, add emergency generators, replace boilers and upgrade finishes. This work improves functionality, energy efficiency, and physical integrity of the buildings. Completed over the Summer of 2010.
