Programmer Analyst

The Beaverton School District, a rapidly growing school district is seeking a candidate to help support the District enterprise applications. BSD is the third largest school district in Oregon with over 51 schools, 44,000 students and staff, covering 56 square miles. In addition to being one of the largest employers in the city of Beaverton and Washington County, the Beaverton School District is a recognized leader in Oregon for providing high quality education to the students we serve in a progressive and technology driven environment.

This position is part of a 7-member team of analysts and programmers responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the district’s enterprise software systems. This position’s primary responsibility will be the implementation of the user interface between the district’s student information system and a third party instructional career planning application. They will also serve as backup to the District Web Developer. The successful candidate must be a self-starter with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of SQL, JavaScript, CSS, and XHTML, C#, ASP.NET with Framework 3.5 or higher, Visual Studio.
  • Ability to create SharePoint 2010 solutions in SharePoint Designer 2010 and Visual Studio 2010
  • Skills in defining user requirements and designing file structures and file access methods.
  • Skills in troubleshooting complex issues and conducting effective research to resolve problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

These additional skills would be a plus:

  • Skills in database design
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint 2013

Education/Training/Licenses/Certification:
Bachelors’ degree in computer programming or computer science equivalent.

Experience:
Three (3) years of computer programming with experience in web design and programming; or any combination of education and experience that would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job.
