Juried Assessment
Juried assessment is an alternate path for students to meet state standards when they are unable to demonstrate what they know on a state test. Any students may participate in the juried assessment process. Students wishing to take part in a juried assessment submit a collection of work to a district panel. This collection should contain multiple pieces of evidence demonstrating that the student meets the grade level standard. The district panel examines the work, and if it meets the standard, it is submitted to the state for a second review. If the state decides that the work meets the standard, the student meets the grade level standard for that subject.
Parents or students may request a juried assessment. Talk to your child’s teacher if you are interested in this process. Deadlines for requesting participation in a juried assessment are usually in February with collections of evidence due in March.
