Scientific Review Committee (SRC) Information:
Students who want to distribute surveys, have their little brother swallow unknown substances, play with explosives, viruses, bacteria, or other potentially hazardous materials need to present their ideas to an SRC before they begin collecting data (its our way of protecting the student-researcher and human participants)
- You can host an SRC at your building
- You'll need a vice principal, school psychologist, one other science teacher, and ideally a medical professional (nurse, doctor, etc) or PhD to attend, along with yourself and the students.
BSD STAFF: If you are new to BHSE, if you have any questions, or if you would just like to have have some help and support with science research, Susan Holveck can come and meet with you. She would love to attend a research club, help find mentors for students, review projects, or act as a resource for both teachers and students. Science Fair is a truly great experience for students and the logistics are impressive. In 2010, Team Oregon at ISEF (International Science & Engineering Fair), won more awards than any state or country since the beginning of ISEF. We have great kids with great potential!
