Southridge Scholar's Diploma
For students who are self-directed and desirous of a balanced and challenging program, the Southridge Scholar's Diploma is well worth the effort! These students will graduate from Soutrhidge with full honors and will be eligible to be nominated for the Beaverton School District Honors Program.
The Southridge Scholar Diploma is designed to honor academically well-rounded students who have pushed
themselves to excel in the most challenging of four-year educational programs. For students who are selfdirected
and desire a well-balanced and challenging program, the Southridge Scholar Diploma is well worth
the effort. Students who meet all of the requirements listed below are eligible for this honor.
To earn a Southridge Scholar Diploma, a senior must have:
- An accumulative GPA of at least 3.50 (unweighted) at the end of the second trimester in grade 12.
- Earned a minimum of 28 credits (at least eight (8) credits must be earned in advanced level courses). Students can select from any of the following approved advanced courses at Southridge: IB courses, AP courses, college Challenge courses, Pre-Calculus, IMP 4, CAPS, year four of a World Language, and Science Research.
- Successfully completed the same world language at the 3rd year level. Or, demonstrated profi ciency at
the 3rd year benchmark level (to be verifi ed through a profi ciency exam). Waiver applications for the
proficiency exam must be submitted no later than December 1, 2009 to the World Language Department
(waiver forms are available in all counseling offi ces). - Met State assessment requirements.
- Completed at least 1.0 credit in the Fine Arts (e.g. Media, Performing, and Visual Arts). TOK I will meet .5 credit of this requirement for students enrolled in the full IB Diploma Program.
- Received an endorsement in an advanced Career Academy and completed an internship or completed the full IB Diploma Program.
- Been an active participant in at least one co-curricular activity( e.g. sports, clubs, theatre, music).
- Completed an extended essay for the senior project, the Service Learning Requirement, and Career Development credit by the end of the second trimester of the senior year.
- Completed a full load of courses in four years of school.
*note: International Baccalaureate Full Diploma Candidates who are in good standing at the end of the second trimester of their senior year will automatically earn a Southridge Scholar Diploma.
**Southridge Scholar candidates are expected to adhere to high standards of academic integrity and honesty throughout their full four years of study at Southridge.
