Service Learning
Hopefully you will find the documents in this website useful in answering SL questions. If you are a parent, guardian, or organization that would like to partner with us, and need additional information, please call Angie Ferguson in the SL office at (503) 259-5488, between 8 am and 3 pm. If you are a SRHS student please visit the SL office located in room R-210.
Students are encouraged to complete 15 Service Learning hours each year to keep on track for graduation. Students are required to complete 60 hours by May 1 of their senior year. This meets the .25 of the .5 career credit on transcripts. Hours are prorated for students not enrolled all four years, but are not reduced for early graduation.
Service Learning hours may be earned as a classroom-, Service Learning Office- or student-generated project. Student-generated projects require pre-approval from a classroom teacher. SL projects may be completed any time of the year, including summers if pre-approved.
SL Opportunities are always posted outside the SL Office, R-210, with take-one copies that contain contact information. Feel free to stop in if you need help finding projects that interest you.
SL forms, logs and information are always available outside
the SL Office, in the Main Office, and at this website. Ideas for student
projects may come from teachers, students, the SL office, or SL websites.
