Sept, 2009-2010
Parents, Guardians, and Students,
It is truly my pleasure and honor to extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to you as we begin the 2009-2010 school year at William Walker. September is the time of year to reconnect with old friends and welcome new friends. To those students and parents who are new to William Walker, on behalf of our dedicated faculty, I extend an especially warm welcome and best wishes for an exciting and productive year in your new school. We hope that you will quickly feel at home and become involved in the activities of our school through the PTA and your child's classroom.
Our uncompromising, unwavering goal at William Walker is simple: To provide a world-class learning experience for all of our students. And all means all. Our community and staff values excellence, aspires to high standards and acknowledges that all students will learn. Our work is driven by high accountability standards and we commit to putting forth our very best work. We strive to create a climate and school system where academic success is not predictable by ethnicity, race, poverty, or language proficiency. We all recognize, understand and appreciate that what happens in our classrooms every day is the major determinate of the quality of each student's learning experience.
The state has once again endorsed our efforts in continually making adequate yearly progress with our students as we meet all NCLB standards in Reading, Math, Science, and writing. Indeed, our successes are a result of our continued relationships with you the parents, community members, and most importantly the staffs' work ethic and commitment to excellence.
Please note that you have our word that every student while under our care will receive the highest quality of education, respect, encouragement and necessary skills to succeed and prosper as contributing members of society. Our rigorous curriculum, delivery of instruction, and continuous progress monitoring of student achievement will ensure success for every student.
In closing, my office hours are flexible and my door is always open. If you ever need to see me, please drop by the office and come in. At times, I may not be in my office, because I am attending a meeting at central office; only then will you need to make an appointment with our school secretary for us to meet. I am easily accessible to all of you. I will always meet with you at your convenience and also welcome your calls at home during the evening. Please remember that the focal point at William Walker is your child. If a difficult situation arises, please know that I will always do my best to resolve the situation with your child's best interest at heart.
Respectfully,
Barbara Evans
