Greenway Elementary School Food Pantry
Greenway Elementary School Food Pantry volunteers firmly believe that we are all stronger, more capable and more effective when we work together toward the mission of helping all students have equal opportunities to be successful in their academic lives. Having access to fresh and nutritious food is one of many aspects that are essential to the success of all students.
Last spring, Greenway Elementary School partnered with the Oregon Food Bank to open the first school food pantry in Beaverton School District and the fourth one in Washington County.
Pantry doors opened to the public in October 2015. To this day, the school food pantry has served 444 households, 2,073 individuals of whom 1,097 are children and has given away more than 20,000 pounds of free food.
There is no doubt that all of this would not be possible without the partnership with the Oregon Food Bank, and the invaluable support of more than 50 volunteers who have donated at least 300 hours of hard work and shared their loving and kind hearts.
