Oak Hills Elementary School Community Partnership Team
Oak Hills Elementary School has built strong community partnerships with many local organizations. Their Community Partnership Team is very active and productive.
Some of the projects completed this year include:
- Students participated in a Winter Reading Program sponsored by the Bethany and Cedar Mills Libraries. Students were signed up for library cards and books for their classroom libraries. Additionally, an Early Literacy workshop was offered to parents.
- Sunset Credit Union staff presented a "Financial Beginnings" lesson to all fourth graders. Sunset Credit Union staff visits on Wednesdays to allow students to make deposits into their individual checking accounts and provide monthly Super Saver contests.
- Bales Thriftway partners with Oak Hills to provide breakfast items on Hero Day and staff development days, pumpkins for the ALC classrooms, chocolate, and donates food and wine for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) fundraising event in memory of a former teacher Oak Hills teacher. Students illustrate grocery bags for Bales each season.
- Outback Steakhouse provides ongoing support for students and staff. The restaurant hosted a dinner for 12 to support the LLS fundraising event in memory of a former teacher. Outback provides dinner for staff during conferences, ice cream treats for staff, Otter Pops for all students on Field Day, buckets for the Green Team, lunch for the 5th grade celebration and free Bloomin' Onions for staff throughout the school year.
