Community Partnerships
The Beaverton School District believes it takes everyone in the community to help our children be successful. WE encompass individuals, businesses, faith leaders, teachers, principals and community.
Each school has a Community Partnership Team comprised of several existing entities that bring parents and community into the school. Bringing these groups together creates a collaborative approach at the school level that is supported and encouraged at the District level and by the School Board.
2021 WE Awards Winners
WE recognized ten projects that demonstrated exemplary community partnership work during the 2020-21 school year. Administrators, school principals and community members gathered for a virtual ceremony to honor the award winners.
“It was probably the most challenging school year in the history of BSD, and we could not have met the challenge alone,” said Superintendent Don Grotting. “Whether it was school supplies to use at home, internet connectivity or even food to assist our families in need, you were there, saying ‘how can we help?’,” said Grotting in remarks to community partners in attendance.
Grotting, who is retiring in June 2022, also called the Beaverton community “the most supportive” that he’s ever worked with. “Regardless of language spoken, culture, skin color, gender or economics, this community has placed a high priority on their children’s education and has committed to helping those struggling and less fortunate. While some communities have balked at ensuring equity as a priority, this community has embraced equity on all fronts by providing resources and the social and emotional supports needed to help all of our students and families succeed.”
