The BSD is proud to announce the creation of the Verna Bailey Scholarship. Verna Bailey was the first Black woman to graduate from the University of Mississippi in 1968. She then went on to work in the Beaverton School District for 39 years. Verna retired in 2013 as the principal of Montclair Elementary.

The scholarship is aimed at amplifying the voices of students of color in our district. As part of "Giving Tuesday," BSD is collecting donations to be used for these scholarships. Please watch the video to learn more.
