Beaverton Community-Wide Conversation Around Race Break-Out Session Proposal

Please complete this Course Proposal Form to express interest in presenting a break-out session at the Second Annual Beaverton Conversation Around Race to be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2021. We are unable to host this gathering in person, thus we are planning a virtual gathering from 4:00-6:00 pm on Wednesday, March 10th. Presenters will be notified by February 8, 2021, if their session proposal was accepted. This form is due by Friday, February 19, 2021. We are looking for affinity groups, schools, allies in this work, staff, and community partners to present one or two fifty-five minute break out sessions. The purpose of this event is to build a conversation around improving our collective and individual racial literacy with a focus on student voice. For questions contact Southridge High School Principal David Nieslanik at David_nieslanik@beaverton.k12.or.us, Southridge High School Assistant Principal Sho Shigeoka at Sho_Shigeoka@beaverton.k12.or.us or BSD Administrator for Equity and Inclusion Patrick McCreery at Patrick_McCreery@beaverton.k12.or.us.

In our ongoing efforts to ensure equitable access, inclusion, and opportunity for our students, families, and staff, the Beaverton School District is engaging in the second of hopefully many community conversations around race, and as a valued member of our community we would like to cordially invite you to attend and participate! On Wednesday, March 10 from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m., we will be welcoming students, families, staff, and community members from throughout Beaverton and the surrounding region to join us in a virtual Southridge High School event.
