Maintenance Facilities Improvements
The current Maintenance and Custodial Facility was acquired in 1971. This department now serves 53 schools and over 5 million square feet of space yet is the same in size and functionality as when the district consisted of just 28 schools. The buildings and grounds are worn-out and severely undersized for the staff that clean, maintain, and keep our schools and supporting services open, which results in significant operational challenges. Equipment parking needs have expanded which necessitates staff parking to overflow into the surrounding neighborhood.
Renovation of both the site and buildings will provide a functional Maintenance Facility and increased parking. Phase one is underway which includes site improvements for circulation and parking, plus the addition of new storage and exterior canopies. Miscellaneous building improvements will be done as part of phase two.
