The District held the official Groundbreaking Ceremony for William Walker Elementary School on Saturday, September 15, 2018. William Walker is the third of four schools to be replaced as part of the District's $680 million construction bond approved by voters in May 2014. Demolition of the former school is complete and General Contractor Kirby Nagelhout is working to build a modern, 87,200 sq.ft., two-story building that will hold 750 students and will open in the fall of 2019.
The District worked closely with DLR Group Architects on the design of the facility, as well as with the City of Beaverton, on a site plan that meets the city's development requirements. The same design was used as a prototype for Hazeldale Elementary, Vose Elementary and Sato Elementary.
