Long range planning manages the update of long-range enrollment forecasts for the district. Long range forecasts are typically updated every five years.

2017 Futures Study

The Futures Study was undertaken by Beaverton School District in 2016-2017 to consider potential scenarios which may impact the district in the next 20 to 50 years. The study is unique in that it is intended to consider future district needs well beyond that required by Oregon Revised Statute (ORS 195.110). The District intends to use the study as a reference point when evaluating existing and new programs. The study is anticipated to be reviewed and updated at a future point.

The District maintains a master facility use schedule for uses of district buildings and properties. An average of 4,500 activities and events take place a month at the 53 facilities and sites that are available for rent by outside users or by district users. The facility use team work to manage where uses are located, minimize conflicts in uses, ensure proper insurance is in place, assign staff to maintain the facilities, and invoice users for rent and staffing costs.

State Statute (ORS 195.110) requires large school districts in the state of Oregon to have a facilities plan document to help guide future planning efforts for facilities in school districts. Guidance from the state advises that facility plans should be reviewed and updated every seven to ten years.

In June, 2021 the School Board adopted the 2021 Long-Range Facility Plan (LRFP). The 2021 LRFP served as the guiding document for the 2022 Bond Program, which was approved by the voters in November, 2022. The 2021 LRFP report and appendices can be found below:

Oregon Revised Statues (ORS) requires local land use permitting and public school districts to communicate on proposed residential land use development because residential development may increase the number of students enrolled in local public school attendance areas. The common method for this communication is by the permitting agency requiring a land use applicant to obtain a service provider letter from the Beaverton School District. The land use permitting agencies within the Beaverton School District boundary are the cities of Beaverton, Hillsboro, Tigard, and Washington County.

The land use development review process and requirements are different in each jurisdiction. All persons wishing to conduct residential development must check with the appropriate jurisdiction for the appropriate land use process and application submittal requirements. If your local permitting agency requires a service provider letter from the Beaverton School District, our staff will review your proposal and issue a letter identifying which school attendance boundaries in which the proposed development is located, provide a summary of potential school capacity impacts, and identify any needed mitigation measures to those potential impacts.
