2015-17 High School Boundary Adjustment Process Criteria and Sequence
In May 2014, Beaverton voters approved a $680 million measure for the students in the Beaverton School District. One of the purposes of the bond program is to increase school capacity to address overcrowding and future projected enrollment across the system. As a result, school attendance boundaries will need to be adjusted. Policy JC, School Attendance Areas, serves as the guide for the boundary adjustment process, providing specific criteria that the Boundary Advisory Committee will use to develop a recommendation to Superintendent Rose.

In addition, the Superintendent proposed the following objectives:
- Relieve current and projected future overcrowding with a five-year horizon, and targeting 90% capacity or less.
- Minimize transitions for students.
Sequence for Boundary Adjustment
This fall, the District began a process to redraw the District boundaries beginning with high school attendance areas. The process began in mid-October 2015 and is expected to end in mid-March 2016. Following the completion of the high school process, the District will begin a similar process for the elementary level with the target for completion December 2016. With new construction coming on line in the next several years, we will delay the middle school boundary process until closer to the school opening as a middle school.
The meetings are open to the public.
Boundary Advisory Committee
The Boundary Advisory Committee is comprised of two (2) high school parents/community members from each of the five comprehensive high schools and the school principal. A Technical Team representing Teaching & Learning, Facilities, Communications & Community Involvement and Transportation departments assists the Advisory Committee. And experienced facilitator is guiding the process.
Public Input
Public input is encouraged throughout the process. Written comments will be accepted (see email links above). In addition, there will be a Public Preview in January 2016 to share the proposed boundary adjustments. A Public Hearing will follow February 2016.
