Social Science Curriculum Adoption 2026-2027

SEEKING COMMITTEE APPLICANTS

Beaverton School District is seeking applicants for the 2026-27 grades K-12 Social Science Materials Selection Committee. 

Curriculum selection committees are tasked with providing recommendations on instructional resources for the district to adopt. Final decisions on curriculum adoptions are approved by the school board, in accordance with the Oregon Department of Education instructional materials adoption cycle and board policy IIA.

The committee will meet several times during the 2026-27 school year, culminating in a recommendation to the superintendent and a presentation to the school board in the spring.

Committee membership will include:

  • Classroom teachers
  • Teaching specialists, including special education, dual language, English language development, advanced programs and additional content teachers
  • District content area specialists
  • School administrators
  • Parents/guardians
  • Students
  • Community members

Applications are due Friday, June 5 by 4 p.m.

Committee meetings are tentatively scheduled at 4:45-6:45 p.m. on several Wednesdays throughout the school year: 

  • September 9
  • September 23
  • October 7
  • October 28
  • November 4
  • November 18
  • December 9
  • February 17
  • March 17
  • May 12

Meetings will be held at the District Support Center at 16550 SW Merlo Road, Beaverton
