*Please note: This is a general kindergarten FAQ populated by our virtual kindergarten q&a session. It is a work in progress. This FAQ is not meant to answer questions related to the 2020-21 school year and COVID-19. The District has a team working on return to school plans and that information will be shared this summer.
Is there an option for online Kindergarten when BSD returns to in-person instruction?
Early entry question. Are there ever situations where a child wouldn’t be accepted even once passing the assessments and evaluations due to maintaining class sizes?
Can we walk them to their classroom on the first day or not?
With one teacher how do you balance the different learning needs of kids in class and ensure those who come in with more foundation like reading don't get bored?
Will each school offer a Q&A for Q's regarding a particular school?
Are there opportunities to learn/practice riding the bus before the start of the year?
Is there going to be another live session once the plans for re-opening and post covid will look like?
Can someone point me in the right direction to get information on the bus system?
Does Kindergarten have ESL class in each school? Can you explain more about ESL classes?
How often do parent teacher conferences happen?
If your child is not 5yrs when the school year starts but will turn 5 in the same calendar year, are you able to send them to Kindergarten that year?
Do we have to do the background check and all of that to be able to walk our kiddos into school?
Is it expected for kinders to be dropped off? Or are parents expected to park and walk them in?
If we have moved over the summer and my kindergarten has a sib that currently attends a different school do we do a school transfer now as well within our school district?
On the first day, how do the kids know their way in the school?
What about balancing diversity/ethnicities?
What type of safety measures are there at school? Is there somebody letting people in/out or can anybody walk in?
What do volunteer opportunities for parents (and grandparents) look like in the 'normal' operating school day (post covid)?
How do we process moves to a new school for my kindergartner these days as we have been registered previously at another school? The system says it has to be done by schools which are not open.
What is the plan for children for food allergies?
