Equity Advisory Committee

Beaverton School District's Educational Equity Advisory Committee (per OAR 581-022-2307) was reconstituted (previously, Equitable Policies Task Force) in the Fall of 2022 and is composed of student, parent/guardian, staff and community volunteers.

In accordance with OAR 581-022-2307 the duties of an Educational Equity Advisory Committee include:

The educational equity advisory committee is responsible for advising the school district superintendent on the equity impacts of policy decisions. This includes providing input on how policies may affect underserved student groups and how to best support students.

The committee informs the superintendent about the broader district climate and the experiences of underrepresented students. It identifies both negative and positive situations within schools that impact these students and advises the superintendent and school board on how to respond or replicate effective practices. The committee also considers whether such situations are isolated or indicative of broader district-wide trends and provides recommendations accordingly.

Additionally, the committee may consider topics it deems critical to its role in representing and elevating educational equity within the district. It may also review and respond to topics submitted by the superintendent.
