All applicants must reside within the Beaverton School District attendance area or  currently attend a Beaverton School on an approved Interdistrict Transfer. 

Proof of address or proof of Interdistrict Transfer may be requested if the applicant is selected to attend an Option School.

The lottery season runs from October to December. Applications are accepted starting mid-October through the beginning of December. During this time families should research the Option Schools/Programs and/or attend available Open Houses. The lottery will be run, and families will be notified electronically within seven business days. If selected in the lottery, you must accept by the deadline. If you do not accept by the deadline, your spot will be forfeited. If you are not selected through the lottery, some schools may have a Second Consideration process. Please contact the Option School/Program of interest for more information. If a Second Consideration process is not available, students will be placed in the wait-pool. The length of time you will remain in the wait-pool will be determined on a variety of factors, such as number of applicants, class size, and space availability.

Late applications are only accepted on a space availability basis.

Students may only apply to one Option School/Program.

The lottery season for the 2026-2027 school year:  

• Monday, October 13, 2025: Lottery application window opens

• Friday, December 5, 2025: Lottery application deadline. Applications due to the Learning Options Office by 3:00 p.m. PST

• WEDNESDAY, December 10, 2025: Lottery is conducted.

Both online and paper applications will be available in English and Spanish. Please contact the Multilingual Department at 503.356.3755 for additional language assistance. 

The 2026-27 lottery will take place on Wednesday December 10, 2025. Email notifications will begin going out on Friday, December 12, 2025 to the email address listed on the application. Notifications can only be sent to one email address, and must be current at the time of notification. Results cannot be given over the phone. A non-response is an automatic forfeit.

If your email address changes, please email options@beaverton.k12.or.us to update. Email notifications will begin going out on Friday, December 12, 2025 to the email address listed on the application. No. Spots are determined based on class size and space availability. These numbers fluctuate depending on whether students accept or decline their spot during the lottery season, move, or decide to attend another school.

STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SHADOW AT OUR OPTION SCHOOLS/PROGRAMS.

However, we strongly encourage you to attend an information night. Below is the  schedule.

Yes, online applications most efficient. However, late applications can only be submitted on paper.

Option students who wish to return to their home school can only do so at semester break or during the first five (5) days of the semester. Once a student transfers out of the Option School/Program, they forfeit their spot at the Option School/Program.

In order to request a transfer during the semester, a student must complete an Administrative Transfer form and qualify with a hardship.

Students may apply to one Option School/Program and to Summa, if eligible. Visit the Talented and Gifted page for more information about the Summa program. 

No. Enrollment in Option Schools/Programs are offered through the lottery process not through the Administrative Transfer process.

BSD bus transportation is provided for all students who attend an Option School/Program and live outside the school's walking zone. 

What does bus transportation look like? In the morning, students who qualify for bus transportation are picked up in their neighborhood and will either ride the bus directly to the option school or they will transfer buses at a different option school before going to their own school. In the afternoon, students will ride a bus to their boundary high school. If they live in the high school’s bus zone, they will transfer to that bus, which takes them to their neighborhood stop. If they live in the high school’s walk zone, they will walk home.

Morning example: Student lives in Westview’s boundary and attends ISB. The bus will pick them up and take them to BASE where they will transfer to a bus to ISB.
Afternoon example: Student will take a bus from ISB to Westview. If they live in the Westview’s bus zone, they will transfer to that bus. If they live in the walk zone, they will walk home.

Students on Interdistrict Transfers must provide their own transportation.
