Welcome to Day 1!
Today, look through the nonfiction books on the Epic library. Choose a book that is just right (not too hard, not too easy) that you are also excited to read. Read for 15-20 minutes and write down facts and information that you thought were interesting in your notebook.
Spend any extra time reading a fiction book of your choice.
Today you are going to start writing an information book about a topic you can teach others. Writers brainstorm topic ideas before they begin writing. Using the anchor chart, make a list of topics you know a lot about that you could teach others in a book.
After you brainstorm, choose one to write a quick draft about.
Complete 1-2 lessons in DreamBox and today's problem:
Ty says that 16 - (4 + 4) = 8. Jade says it equals 12. Who do you agree with? What mistake did one of the students make?
WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW FOR MORE DETAILS ABOUT TODAY'S ACTIVITIES.
WAIT, DON'T 🍁 YET! WE STILL HAVE TO PICK ACTIVITIES FROM OUR CHOICE BOARD...
MAKE A CARD
Make a card for someone. Write a special message to them to make them feel happy.
“Super Sleuth” game time! Everyone chooses an object from around your house. In turn, they describe its color, shape, size, and texture. Everyone tries to guess what your object is. The first person to correctly guess what the object is becomes the “Super Sleuth!”
Design a game that uses pushes or pulls.
Play your game with someone in your house and explain to them how it works.
Watch the Pixar short film Piper.
How did this film make you feel? What do you think the message or theme of this story is? What did the character(s) learn?
Draw, write, or act out your own story that is similar.
Ask someone for a song to listen to and let them know what you think about it.
People use different types of transportation to travel from place to place like cars, bicycles, trains, buses, and airplanes.
Draw or write telling about the different types of transportation you use to travel.
