Academic Learning Center

The Academic Learning Center (ALC) is a class setting with additional adult supports for students with developmental needs in the areas of communication, behavior, functional academics, independence, self-care, pre-vocational and life skills commensurate with their adaptive and cognitive profile. This program utilizes a modified curriculum to support the functional academic and adaptive skills of students. The program fosters growth through:

  • Social and life skills opportunities 

  • Multimodal communication

  • Visual supports for task completion

  • Opportunities to access  adapted motor skills development

  • Behavior supports, which can include BSPs and Safety Plans

  • Access to general education opportunities as described by individual inclusion plans
