Marketing I

In this introductory course, students with an interest in business and marketing will learn fundamental skills as they relate to business ethics, consumer behavior, promotion, product distribution, branding, packaging, advertising and more. This class is designed as a foundational stepping stone to prepare students for the entrepreneurial-based Marketing II class. 

• 1 Credit (2 semesters)

Intro to Sports Marketing

The course is based on the creation of an expansion NFL franchise in the fall, and MLB or NBA franchise in the spring. The students get to the pick the city and team name and create a brand, including colors, uniforms and apparel. They create, build, and staff the stadium from the ground up. These are followed by sections concentrating on sales, promotion, and sponsorship.

Intro to Business

This course will serve as an overview to the various business courses offered at Aloha as well as current events in the business world today. The curriculum will address the basics of marketing, management, and entrepreneurship.  Also studied will be the attributes of the successful business leader.

Marketing II 

This course is designed to meet the interests and needs of those students who have successfully completed Marketing I or Sports/Event Marketing and wish to further their career interest and goals in this area. This is a project-based class, which includes work with other students, administrators, the local community and local businesses. Students will operate and market their own business ventures. 

• 1 Credit (2 semesters)
• 10-12 grade

Marketing III

Marketing III is an opportunity for students to further interests in Business and Marketing by moving into the student management program. This entrepreneurial-based program is student operated and student managed. Students will become managers of the various Marketing II groups and will not only help guide the students, but will be integral in the short and long term decision of these businesses. In this class the students will be introduced to various management styles and will be vital in creating program-wide policies to continuously help improve this unique program. 

• 1 Credit (2 semesters)
• 10-12 grade

 

Students can participate in additional related activities such as: 

Advanced students complete real-world tasks alongside a business partner as part of a class project, for example, conducting marketing research to identify a potential new restaurant site.

Students have the opportunity to work in Aloha’s student store in order to practice the skills being presented in Marketing.  Students develop a thorough understanding of all store operations and learn to function productively within a team.

Business students can join DECA, a Career and Technical Student Organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.  Student members of DECA learn and practice workplace skills through state and international competitions.
