Intro to Education
In this year long course, students will explore the history of education and the roles of a variety of personnel in schools. Includes personal responses to school situations, students, other personnel and the roles of schools in American Society. Examines ethical, legal, and administrative implications for educators. Shadowing school personnel, classroom internships, field trips and guest speakers will be an integral part of this class.

Child Development III
An introduction to the foundations of early childhood education. Concepts include the history, scope, current issues and trends, focusing on programs and services for children birth through age 12. This course will Include an emphasis on development, developmentally appropriate practices and observations of young children and professionals. This course will provide foundational skills for students entering cadet teaching in semester 2.

Cadet Teaching Capstone
This course is designed for students interested in exploring a teaching career. Students will gain practical experience and knowledge in working directly with students in a preschool, elementary or middle/high school classroom. Students will work with a mentor teacher on instructional strategy and classroom management. The mentor teach will help assist and monitor the student in the classroom. In addition, the mentor teacher will keep track of student progress, attendance and contribution toward the internship.
