IN THIS PROGRAM, YOU'LL...

• Develop a comprehensive understanding of mental health across the lifespan.

• Apply models and theories to real scenarios through case studies and practical exercises.

• Engage with skills in therapeutic interventions, cultural competence, crisis management and ethical collaboration to support diverse individuals and communities effectively.

• Practice safe, legal, and ethical working habits with respect to human dignity.

• Learn from local businesses through internships, mentorship, workplace tours and job shadow opportunities.

• Graduate with Peer Support Specialist certifications for immediate entry into high-wage jobs.

Course Map

Students have the opportunity to earn 0.5 graduation requirement credit in Higher Education & Career Path Skills (HECPS) awarded in the advanced level course of the CTE program.

HOW TO ENROLL

To enroll, select the Behavioral Health CTE Option Program during course selection. A lottery for selection will be conducted in May. Connect with your school’s college and career center and your counselor for more information.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

CTE Option Programs are two-year, half-day programs that provide students with immersive, hands-on preparation in specific career areas. All BSD comprehensive high school students may apply through the course selection process, with admission determined by a districtwide lottery, and transportation provided to ensure equitable access for all students.
