TV News
Are you ready to be on CNN? Want to show off your video editing skills? Ready to run a social media campaign? This is the class for any future journalists who want to learn how to produce broadcast-quality news from a teacher with 10-years of experience in a TV newsroom. As an team member you will learn the basics of TV News production, including writing for the ear, decoding facts versus opinions, shooting video and audio, organization, and working in a high-pressure environment, all while producing the weekly Hawk Talk TV. In addition, you will help manage the school’s social media platforms. Students who’ve previously taken filmmaking, journalism, or leadership strongly encouraged to enroll in this class.

Yearbook
Photographers, designers, writers, journalists, and outgoing people all have a home here! In this class you will work the entire year to produce our beautiful, 200+ page yearbook. Students will interview their classmates, take pictures at events, design pages, and promote yearbook sales. This is a class for students who can handle independent projects and firm deadlines. Note: Students in this class are expected to attend at least five events per month outside of regular school hours.

Media Leadership
Are you a top student journalist? If you’ve completed TV News or Yearbook and are ready for the next challenge this class is for you. You will serve as a Yearbook editor or TV News producer and help drive what stories we cover. Along with other editors, you will help teach new students, make coverage assignments, and be a leader in the newsroom. This is a major resume builder for college and professional life.
