Community School at Merlo Station Campus offers a small school environment based on relationships, growth mindset, and future preparation. The focus is on Social-Emotional Learning with many supports and resources available to students.

FLEX Online School is the Beaverton School District's only fully online K-12 school. 

FLEX Online offers comprehensive learning opportunities that take advantage of the best that online learning has to offer. Flexible schedule, pacing, curriculum, and teaching make the best use of current technology. Students and their families work with teachers and staff on their personalized journey through school, online.

FLEX Online School serves students in grades 9 through 12+ who are pursuing their diploma.

Many students who enroll in FLEX Online School have barriers to success with a full in-person experience. Not all of them are looking for a fully virtual experience, however. HyPE is designed to bridge that gap by providing a partial schedule on-campus model with the flexibility of an online schedule.

These BSD Option Schools offer specially focused learning experiences. They also require that students apply to the enrollment lottery in December for placement the following school year.

These schools serve students in grades 6 through 12+ who are pursuing their diploma.

The Oregon Youth Challenge Program (OYCP) is a military style residential school run by the Oregon National Guard in Bend, Oregon. Students earn 8-10 credits in 5-1/2 months. 

OYCP serves students age 16 to 18 who are pursuing their diploma or GED.  Fifteen-year-olds can apply if they will turn 16 during the program. See the OYCP website for eligibility criteria and the application process.

Beaverton Schools offer many Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs within our high schools. These half-day programs provide focused, hands-on, practical learning. Half-day programs require that you enroll during the annual forecasting period in February. If a program fills up, a lottery is held to choose students. Half-day programs are available in the following areas of focus:

• Automotive Technology at Aloha High School
• Construction at Community School
• Health Careers at Beaverton High School
• Manufacturing at Westview High School
• Applied Chemistry and Field Biology at Terra Nova School of Science and Sustainability

These programs serve students in grades 11 and 12 who are pursuing their diploma.

Early College High School offers an option through BSD for students in grades 11 and 12 to earn your high school diploma by taking classes at Portland Community College. Students typically apply in the spring of 10th grade to start in the fall of 11th grade.

Eligibility criteria:

• must be a junior or credit-deficient senior
• 2.0 GPA or higher with at least 12 credits
• must place into MTH 58/60 or higher and RD/WR 115 or higher
• must complete application process.

Early College High School serves students in grades 11 and 12 who are pursuing their diploma.

Passages Connect is a diploma completion program for credit-deficient 5th, 6th, and 7th year seniors. Students are eligible who have four or fewer credits to complete. Students who complete their diploma requirements in Passages Connect will receive their diploma from their neighborhood high school.

Passages Connect serves students in grade 12+ who are pursuing their diploma.

Passages Interval is a temporary, part-time reengagement program with a focus on academic support, navigating non-academic barriers. and creating individualized plans for high school completion and post-secondary options. Students spend an average of eight weeks in Interval before transitioning to the next step of their chosen educational path. 

Passages Interval serves students ages 16-21 who are pursuing a diploma or GED.

Offers an option for adult students who are interested in finishing their high school diploma. Students may need to travel outside of Washington County, and may need to pay for courses.

Langauge proficiency test (STAMP) : if you speak a language other than English, you may be able to earn AA or EL credit by demonstrating proficiency on a language test like the STAMP. Contact your counselor for details.

WorkKeys: you may be eligible to earn some LA, MA, and EL credit by demonstrating proficiency on the WorkKeys assessments. Depending on your scores, you may also earn a National Career Readiness Certificate. Contact your counselor for details.

Passages ProGrad is an option for current seniors to earn proficiency credit through the GED tests to make on-time graduation possible. Contact your counselor for details and eligibility criteria. 

Flex Credit offers individual, online courses to students in grades 9-12 who are enrolled at least half-time in a BSD school.  If you need to make up credit by taking a class outside of the normal school day, FLEX Credit might help.

The courses are taught by BSD teachers and align with BSD standards.  Coursework is done online and asynchronously with limited in person support.

Eligibility:  BSD students in grades 9-12 who are enrolled at least half-time in a BSD school are eligible.  Students must also meet at least one of the following criteria:

• Need support to stay on track to graduate
• Are at risk of not graduating due to credit deficiency
• Wish to access college level coursework which does not fit into their schedule

Registration:  High School counselors or administrators determine if the student meets the HS Success Grant criteria and request a course for the student. Staff members, please visit the FLEX Credit page on the staff intranet for the registration form and other staff information.

Opportunity Knocks is a program that grants high school juniors and seniors (or students 16 or older) in the Beaverton School District the opportunity to take one course for credit per term at Portland Community College. Students may enrich or extend their learning while gaining college experience and applying credit towards high school graduation and potential college degrees.

Before enrolling in the program, applicants take GED pretests to determine their readiness for the official tests. Depending on pretest scores, students may enroll in the Passages GED program for academic prep in person on the Merlo Station Campus, or they may have an options meeting to determine another path for high school completion. Once enrolled in the program, students will also develop their post-high school goals including work readiness, career training, and college prep.

PCC Adult Education/GED Program offers an option for students who are interested in completing their GED through PCC. Students will need to pay for courses and attend classes at one of the PCC campuses. Classes start the beginning of each term in the PCC calendar.

Continuing Education for Young Parents (CEYP) is a program for BSD students who are pregnant and/or currently parenting, open to all BSD students regardless of what school they attend.

CEYP has been an invaluable resource for teen parents for over 40 years and is currently housed at the Merlo Station Campus. The Little Mustangs Learning Center is the on-site licensed child care portion of CEYP. Any BSD student who has a child (age 6 weeks to 3 years) is eligible to access free quality child care at Little Mustangs during school hours. 

The Community Transition Program (CTP) is a structured program for students ages 18-21 who have graduated with a non-standard diploma. Students in this community-based program are provided with classroom instruction and community opportunities, with a focus on pre-vocational and vocational skills.

Home Instruction is a short-term program for BSD students who are unable to attend school for 10 days or more due to medical needs. Students have class one hour a day and work on 1-2 core content subjects to keep in an academic routine and stay on track to graduate.

HomePlate is Washington County’s only nonprofit provider of drop-in centers and street outreach for young people experiencing houselessness. In addition to meeting youth where they are via direct outreach, HomePlate offers a drop-in and resource center for youth ages 12-24 to find food, housing, employment, education supports, and more.
