Questions & Answers
Are there licensed medical providers on staff?
The SBHC has a licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant and a Mental Health Therapist on staff, as well as a Dental Hygienist.
What about insurance?
The SBHC can bill most private health insurance plans and may collect a co-pay at the time of service. Oregon Health Plan (OHP) is also accepted, which does not require a co-pay. Please contact the SBHC to inquire if they accept your insurance. If you do not have insurance, the SBHC will access if you are eligible for a discounted fee, based on income. Families that earn less will pay less.
If you have Kaiser or Kaiser OHP Insurance, your School Based Health Center (SBHC) will now be accepting patients for Medical/ Primary Care Services.
Kaiser Patients can be seen at the SBHC for Primary Care Acute services like:
- Acute visits for strep throat, minor injuries, etc.
- Sports Physicals
- Urgent Care
We will see Kaiser Patients for acute care needs ONLY. All other services including; imaging, specialty care, chronic condition management and mental health will still need to be handled through your Primary Care Team at Kaiser. Kaiser will only be accepted at Virginia Garcia’s School Based Health Center locations.
Do I need an appointment?
Appointments are preferred, but if you have an urgent need, you can walk-in. To make an appointment simply call 503-356-3985 or walk in to request a visit.
Is my appointment confidential?
Your privacy and safety are a priority at the SBHC. In general, adolescents have a right to privacy regarding some health information. If there is a safety concern, we are required to report by law. SBHC staff work with youth of all ages to involve parents/guardians in their care. If you have any questions about the confidentiality of your care, please ask our knowledgeable staff.
