Plan Your Walk + Roll Day Event

(This must be indicated on your registration form.) Think about how you will distribute prizes and how you will collect participant numbers. Here are a few ideas to help:
  • Hand out small prizes at school entry for all students who walk, bike, scooter, skate or bus to school. Count how many prizes available and subtract number of prizes left over to determine participant count.
  • Hand out numbered raffle tickets (could also include a small prize) at school entry (or in the classroom) for students who walk, bike, scooter, skate or bus to school. Announce raffle winners during school and count up raffle tickets for participant count.
  • Teachers take a tally of how students traveled to school (could also hand out a small prize). School will randomly select raffle winners from teacher tallies and use the tally forms for participant count.
  • Have students who travel by car walk a lap before school or at recess and count all students as participants. Select raffle winners from total students present.
  • Organize a Walking School Bus on event day. Students can be dropped off at meeting location and walk to school with other students and volunteer walk leaders.
  • Other idea - let us know what you are planning.
