Wet Weather Doesn't Mean You Need to Stay Inside!
Winter Walk + Roll Day encourages students and families to enjoy active transportation in the winter and all year round! So bundle up and join the fun on Wednesday, March 13th! A walk in the fresh air is the perfect way to prepare for a day in the classroom - make it special by meeting up and walking with a friend!
To celebrate the day, registered schools may include all students in a raffle with prizes to help them stay BRIGHT this winter. Registered schools will receive:
- Six raffle prize bags: reflective cinch sack, colorful beanie, clip on reflector, reflective shoelaces and more!
- Promotional materials
- Assistance creating a Walking School Bus for your event and a prize for each participant!
How To Participate:
- Make sure to register your school by February 28th to receive fun prizes!
- Plan how your school will participate. Use our event planning guide to get your started.
- Promote your event with graphics and an article on Parent Square and in your school's newsletter.
- Have fun walking + rolling to school on March 13th. Send your photos and participation numbers to bsdsaferoutes@gmail.com
The Following tips can keep you safe and comfortable while walking and rolling in Winter.
- Be Seen – Wear bright/reflective clothing and use a bike light when riding so other road users can see you on dark, winter days.
- Be Safe – Stay alert – keep your eyes and ears open.
- Be Prepared – Dress for the weather. Rain gear and warm layers can keep you dry and comfortable all season long.
