National School Counseling Week - February 5-9, 2018
National School Counseling Week 2018 - “School Counseling: Helping Students Reach for the Stars,” sponsored by
the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), is Feb. 5-9, 2018.
National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school
counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan
for a career.
The special week honoring school counselors
provides recognition for school counselors who implement comprehensive
school counseling programs, a vital part of the educational process for
all students as they meet the challenges of the 21st century. In the Beaverton School District there are 110 school counselors.
School District counselors are incredible and continue to go above and
beyond to meet the individual and complex needs of students and
families. Thank you, Beaverton counselors, for all your time and
commitment to the overall well-being of our students and families,” says
Danielle Hudson, Executive Administrator for Student Services.
"School counselors are professionals trained in helping address students' academic, social/emotional and career developmental needs. I often refer to school counselors not only as a student's counselor but rather the school's counselor. Someone who not only supports the growing needs of students, but also parents, staff, and the school community," says Vilay Greene, Teacher on Special Assignment.
Please take a moment to thank your school counselor.
