2026-27 Hardship Interdistrict Transfer Application INTO BSD

This application is for NON-RESIDENT students requesting to attend a BSD school based on hardship circumstances as defined in OAR 581-021-0019(1)(c).

Please submit the completed application beginning April 1, 2026 for the 2026-27 school year. Proof of RELEASE from the boundary district must be attached to the application for it to be considered. If you have questions, please email interdistricttransfer@beaverton.k12.or.us.

When considering an Interdistrict Transfer Hardship Request, the Beaverton School District follows the Oregon Department of Education's hardship criteria as defined in OAR 581-021-0019(1)(c):

  • The student is impacted by a parent or guardian’s military deployment.
  • The student is experiencing instability related to homelessness or foster care placement.
  • The student has a documented medical condition that necessitates a transfer.
  • The student is impacted by the death of a parent.
  • The student does not have access to safe and affordable childcare in the resident district.
  • The student is involved in a documented case of severe harassment, intimidation, bullying or cyberbullying.

The capacity of the school requested is also a consideration.

A hardship is not a preference for an academic program or activities offered at another school.

Additional Information:

  • Transfer paperwork must be completed at the resident and non-resident school district.  Proof of Release from the boundary district must be submitted at the time of application.
  • Student transfer requests will be shared between the resident and non-resident districts.
  • Hardship applications are processed in the order they are received.  The process may take up to 2 weeks if all requested documents are submitted.
  • Notification of acceptance or denial will be communicated through the email address provided on the application.
  • Decisions are final. There is no appeal process.
  • If approved, the transfer is valid through grade 12 unless otherwise stated or if there is a move out of the boundary district.
  • Continued enrollment is contingent upon maintaining attendance expectations of at least 92%, having no more than one suspension per academic year, no suspension of five days or more, and no expulsions. Interdistrict transfers are revocable when attendance and behavior expectations are not met.
  • Timely transportation is the responsibility of the family.  The district does not provide transportation.
  • School placement for students on approved interdistrict transfers, who are transitioning to middle and high school will be determined by district personnel based on school capacity.  There are no appeals, decisions are final.
  • High School Only:  OSAA Position Statement - See OSAA website for official statement regarding participation in athletics for transfer students https://www.osaa.org/parents-students.
