Mountainside High School opened its doors in September 2017 to freshmen and sophomores, after two years of construction. It is the District's sixth comprehensive high school. Mountainside is the largest project in the 2014 Bond Program, with a budget of $184 million dollars. The school was designed by Bora Architects and built by Hoffman Construction.
The school was built on 47 acres and it contains 342,000 square feet of space, including 53 general classrooms, five special education classrooms, and 11 science classrooms. It has a capacity of 2,200 students.
Mountainside is an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma School and will also have the IB Middle Years Programme for freshmen and sophomores.
Mountainside offers a variety of Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses, including marketing, culinary arts and construction.
