Qualifying State or Local Academic Assessment

In order to meet the Requirements Qualifications of “a passing score on a qualifying state or local academic assessment" listed in the job descriptions of Paraeducator I, Paraeducator II, Technology Instructional Assistant and Early Childhood Care Provider the Beaverton School District will accept a passing scores from either the ETS ParaPro Assessment or ACT WorkKeys Assessment. This requirement is only needed in lieu of possessing an Associates Degree or higher for the specific jobs listed above.  Please see below for the information on these qualifying academic assessments.

ACT WorkKeys Assessment

The Beaverton School District will be offering the ACT WorkKeys Assessment and proctoring the test in house at our district building. In order to pass, you must receive a passing score on each of the three tests: 

  • Applied Math (offered in English and Spanish)
    • 34 Questions - 55 minutes (75 minutes for Spanish)

    • 1 Prompt - 30 minutes

To satisfy the requirements of each test, you must meet or exceed:

  • Applied Math: Level 4
  • Workplace Documents: Level 4
  • Business Writing: Level 3

 

The price for the entire assessment is $50. Newly hired staff for the upcoming school year and current staff may request tuition reimbursement for the cost of this test upon passing. The payment for the assessment will be accepted as either money order or check payable to the Beaverton School District on the day of your exam. Cash or credit cards will not be accepted. The price to retake an individual assessment is listed below: 

  • Applied Math: $15
  • Workplace Documents: $15
  • Business Writing: $20

 

 

ETS ParaPro Assessment

Computer delivered and administered in English, the ParaPro Assessment measures your knowledge in reading, writing and math. The test takes 2 1/2 hours to complete and has 90 multiple choice questions: 

  • Approximately two-thirds focus on basic skills and knowledge.
  • The remaining one-third focus on applying skills in the classroom. 

The ParaPro Assessment is offered either at a test center or at home. 

If you would like Beaverton School District to access your final test score, enter the recipient code L892 at the start of the test. 

At home testing is: 

  • Taken on your own computer at home or another secure location
  • Monitored by a human proctor online through ProProctor
  • Available 5 a.m. - 2 p.m. PST, Monday through Friday

To satisfy the requirements of the test, you must meet or exceed: a score of at least 455

The price for the entire assessment is $85. There is a $42.50 nonrefundable reschedule fee in the case you need to reschedule your exam. Newly hired staff for the upcoming school year and current staff may request tuition reimbursement for the cost of this test upon passing.
