If one of my children is attending Hybrid in-person instruction and one is remaining in CDL, can I just pick up 5-Day Meal Bags for both children?
Unfortunately, no. Children who attend Hybrid will have the opportunity to access free meals at school. The 5-Day Meal Bag is meant for all children ages 1-18 who are NOT attending Hybrid Instruction. We are required by USDA to not serve duplicate meals to children and this is part of our meal program integrity plan. This plan ensures that we can continue to be funded and provide free meals to all children.
What if I don't want my child to bring home meals at the end of their Hybrid school day?
If my child receives a meal, is a child who might need it more in jeopardy of not getting a meal?
No!
The more children we serve, the stronger our Meal Program grows. When your child receives free meals it helps to improve child nutrition in our neighborhoods, create local jobs, and help parents make fewer trips to the grocery store, thus reducing the economic burden on families and the possible transmission of COVID-19.
