Student and staff safety is a priority in the Beaverton School District. WE are committed to providing all of our students and families with safe, caring and inclusive learning environments. A safe school is one where the educational climate fosters a spirit of acceptance and care for all students. A safe school is also one that is prepared to respond when an emergency arises.

Weather events, fire, earthquakes, intruders and other threats to student safety are scenarios that we are training students, teachers, staff and administration for, in partnership with our first responders. In Beaverton, we collaborate with many community partners to review and enhance the District's safety practices, emergency readiness and response.

It is important for parents and guardians to be aware of and familiar with the District's safety policies and protocols, and to talk with their students about school safety.

Please visit the District's Public Safety webpage, where you can find many resources on school safety, including:

  • Earthquake Information
  • Emergency Drill Information
  • Emergency Operations Plans
  • Emergency Protocol
  • Inclement Weather Information
  • SafeOregon Tipline
  • Safe Routes to School

The District uses SchoolMessenger to communicate general, attendance notifications, and emergency broadcasts to parents, guardians, students and staff. Parents/guardians can customize their communication preferences in SchoolMessenger InfoCenter to ensure the most effective delivery of messages.

For parents who would like to change or set their contact preferences for emergency alerts and other mass notification broadcasts, visit the SchoolMessenger page.
