ACMA HISTORY


Arts & Communication Magnet Academy, founded in 1992, is an accredited Beaverton School District public school serving approximately 725 students in grades 6 to 12. ACMA is an award winning school of application and draws its students from all areas of Beaverton, to participate in a specialized performing, visual and communication arts integrated program of study.

AWARDS AND ACCOLADES

In 2000/01 ACMA was recognized as a "Magnet School of Merit" by the Magnet Schools of America Association. In 2001/02, 2002/03, 2004/05, 2005/06, 2006/2007, and 2007/2008 ACMA received an "Exceptional" rating on the Oregon State Report Card.  In 2003/04 ACMA was recognized as a "Star" school by the International Network of Performing and Visual Arts Schools.

In 2007, U.S. News and World Report ranked ACMA as Oregon's best public high school and placed ACMA among the nation's 500 top-performing high schools.  ACMA received a silver medal rating by US News and World Report in 2008.

ACMA STUDENTS

Students are attracted to ACMA because they possess a skill and are proficient or show strong potential in one of the arts. At ACMA, the arts integrated curriculum encourages student excellence. ACMA students graduate fully prepared to pursue the college or career of their choice.
