Whitford Clubs

Whitford offers a variety of clubs during the week. Watch the website and have your student listen to the daily announcements for upcoming clubs.   Clubs with insufficient enrollment may be canceled. Below you will find a listing of some of the clubs we are offering this school year!

“Learning in Depth,” or LiD, as it is more commonly called, is a program developed in 2007/8 in Canada and already in use in schools in many countries around the world. The essential idea of Learning in Depth is that the student will be given a topic when the program is first introduced and will build a portfolio on this topic throughout the rest of the time he or she is at our school.  The program begins each year with a Sorting Ceremony where topics choose the student. Each student who participates will get a different topic and will start to build a personal portfolio on that topic. The portfolio can be made up of pictures, text, artifacts, models, videos, and so on. It can be contained in a binder or box or in the Cloud, whatever is most suitable for gathering material about the specific topic your child is given. Faculty, administration, and community members mentor students in the development of the portfolio and in the journey to expertise.
