BSD has two vacancies on the Budget Committee. The Budget Committee reviews the district’s budget and may recommend changes. The committee holds public meetings in the evenings between March and June. It approves the budget for the coming school year and forwards it to the School Board for adoption in June.

BSD is currently considering the adoption of new K-12 math materials for next year. As part of this process, a selection committee made up of students, parents, community members, teachers and administrators reviews student data and curriculum materials, approved by the Oregon Department of Education.

Beginning next school year, BSD will shift to a grade-level math sequence for middle school students, with opportunities for advanced placement. This change aligns with practices in neighboring districts and supports long-term student success.

The Beaverton School Board is in the process of selecting a new superintendent, as current superintendent Dr. Gustavo Balderas will be leaving in 2026. The board has hired an outside consultant, Human Capital Enterprises, to facilitate the search.

With the ongoing government shutdown, there’s uncertainty about how programs that support families, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and other food assistance, may be affected. We understand this may cause concern for some families in our community.
